Best CTIA Mobile Tech Review
The world’s leading trade-show for the wireless industry had all the latest in tech and features. We’ve got the roundup of the best, most useful and just plain interesting gadgets from the 2009 convention.
CTIA, the international association for wireless telecommunication industry dedicated to expanding the wireless frontier, hosts the world’s leading mobile convention each year in Las Vegas. The convention is a chance to show off the latest wireless technology, while that focuses mostly on cell phones, the line is blurring and there were many other products there joining the wireless telecommunications industry, as you can see from our matrix.
TopTenREVIEWS was in Las Vegas to see and experience everything at CTIA firsthand. We have coverage on the themes and trends of CTIA as well as our roundup of the best at CTIA to make it easy to see what’s new, cool and where we can expect the wireless industry to move in the future. Here’s how we determined the best:
Features: Obviously, what attracts us most to a product is its feature set. Whether it’s on a cell phone or an application for a cell phone, each product needs to have an above average feature set to garner our attention. While some phones are good at getting you where you need to go, others are good at keeping you glued to your social networking circles. One thing we know for sure, there was a product that suits everyone at CTIA.
Usefulness: It might have all the features in the world, but if you never use those features then what’s the point? It’s about real-world application. The products on our list have numerous features but are also user friendly.
New Technology: Every year sees new technology unveiled at CTIA. Even if it is just a new spin on existing technology, this is shows how the industry is developing and is the really exciting part. Whether it’s a brand new technology, or just using the same old tech in a new way, our favorites have something that will get you excited.
Wow Factor: In a sea of drab booths where one product can look a lot like another, we appreciated variety. There were some products that, quite simply, wowed us and had a presentation to remember. Like the square-headed dolls at the SpinVox booth. Each of these products was something to remember.
After you have a chance to scope out our favorite gadgets and services from CTIA be sure to peruse our live coverage and hands-on impressions from the convention floor on the TopTenREVIEWS blog.
