The Samsung Instinct S30 is the successor to the Instinct released in 2008. The new S30 takes the best features of the original instinct and adds more in a design that is slimmer than before.
The new Samsung Instinct S30 has many of the same features as its predecessor. The virtual QWERTY keyboard features a localized haptic feedback which gives users a gentle vibration as they type.
Visual Voicemail allows users to listen to their messages in their order of preference by and manage them by simply tapping on the screen instead of having to navigate through a phone menu.
Since the phone is offered by Sprint, the S30 will also feature Sprint’s TV® that offers users an extensive selection of channels and on demand programming straight to their phone. In addition, users will have access to Sprint’s Music Store which allows users to download full length songs to their phone for just 99 cents each.
Users will also have the option to use the phone’s default browser or the Opera Mini 4.2 browser. Both are included on the phone and can offer a ture HTML web experience.
The S30 is more open for developers. This means that over time the amount and quality of add on applications will increase. This could be anything from software add ons to external peripheral devices that connect via Bluetooth.
Since the Samsung Instinct S30 is more open to developers the phone will only become more useful over time. The phone is already useful as it is with its advanced email and messaging options and a built-in 2 megapixel camera. As mentioned before, the Visual Voicemail feature takes the hassle out of listening to multiple messages before you can listen to the one that is actually important. A very nice feature indeed.
As with most new smart phones today, there is little “new” technology that goes into the phones. What sets them apart is how that technology is presented to the user. This implementation will literally make of break a phone. This is why Samsung chose to build upon what worked with the original Instinct phone. They have taken what works and made it even better and more useful.
The Instinct S30 will be available for $129 after rebates and a two year commitment. This makes the feature-rich Instinct S30 an excellent value for its price when compared against its competitors.
Samsung took its Instinct and made it better. The result is the Instinct S30 which is faster, slimmer, and has more features at a very affordable $129.
